Why did I start a safari company that emphasizes combining wildlife safaris with adventure? Why are we the only ones offering kayak trips to its guests? Well it started like this…
I took my own first adventure to Tanzania in 2000 and instantly fell in love with Africa. Everything about it filled me with joy – the genuinely warm friendly people, their culture, the amazing wildlife and the natural beauty everywhere I turned. I knew I was destined to return.
In 2005 I journeyed back to Tanzania to fulfill one of my own adventure dreams — climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Witnessing sunrise over the glacier at the top was awe-inspiring and unforgettable. Yearning for more Tanzanian adventures I tracked chimpanzees in the Mahale Mountains on the shores of Lake Tanganyika where I met my expert Tanzanian-based partner, Steve Chumbley. Other adventures in Africa soon followed – scuba diving and snorkeling in the Indian Ocean, exploring the narrow streets of Zanzibar and sampling its aromatic spices, discovering the secrets of African wildlife in their own habitat.
One day Steve and I became the first people to ever kayak waters of Tanzania in boats he handcrafted. There it hit me that other adventurers around the world share my same passion for thrills like this and would want to experience the same grand adventures I’ve enjoyed. That moment Infinite Safari Adventures was born.
I can’t wait to share with you the Tanzania I love.
