Itinerary: Ultimate Luxury Safari

Infinite Safari Adventures - Itinerary: Ultimate Luxury Safari - africa safari

Day 1: On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, an Infinite Safari Adventures representatives will meet you and take you to Rivertrees Country Inn, a wonderful converted old coffee farm a half hour from the airport. This beautiful resort was the former home of the lodge owner (who is related to the Von Trapp family). There is a pool as well as pleasant grounds to walk around, monkeys in the trees and massage and WiFi facilities.

Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast on the Rivertrees terrace, drive to Tarangire National Park and stay at Oliver’s Luxury Tented Camp. Once you stay here you will not want to leave. This camp has huge multi-room tents, en suite bathrooms and a dining tent set squarely in the bush. This luxury camp is the epitome of the comfortable bush experience. In addition to having one of the best locations in the park it also allows for the opportunity for walking safaris and night drives which we will arrange for you. Spot some of the nocturnal wildlife (anything from leopards and bushbabies to nightjars). View animals in a way few people will have an opportunity to. As you drift off to sleep you may hear the sounds of lions nearby.

Day 3: Spend another day at Oliver’s Camp exploring Tarangire. Tarangire has the second highest density of elephants in Africa and some of the best lion and leopard opportunities in Tanzania.

Day 4: Leave Tarangire and head up the Great African Rift Valley. Continue on up into the cloud forest of the Ngorongoro Highlands to stay at the luxurious Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Nowhere else on earth can you wake up among all the trappings of an elegant baroque chateau - brocade sofas, gilt mirrors, beaded chandeliers and panelled walls - and be instantly transported into one of the most famous African landscapes with just one glance out the window of the lodge.

Day 5: Descend into the Ngorongoro crater floor itself for a game drive in one of the mostly densely packed wildlife areas in the world. In the afternoon, ascend the rim and return to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge for another luxurious night.

Day 6: Today you will make your way to the Serengeti. You will be in no rush as you make your way to the lodge and will do a game drive along the way. Tonight you will stay at Sanctuary Kusini Camp. Perfectly set in the remote southern part of the Serengeti, Sanctuary Kusini Camp overlooks the plains where game is a common sight all year round. Built around a spectacular rocky outcrop and on the path of the wildebeest migration, the camp is ideal for seeing cheetah and wildebeest that congregate on the grassy plains in the calving season from mid-December to March.

Day 7: Spend another day exploring the Serengeti. You will go on a game drive looking for not only the wildebeest calving but also an assortment of game including lion, leopard, impala, elephant and hippo. Listen for lions and hyenas off in the distance as you fall asleep dreaming of the adventure you had that day. Spend another night in luxury at Sanctuary Kusini Camp.

Day 8: The Serengeti is yours for another day. You could spend weeks and still not see everything the Serengeti has to offer. Your guide will continue to amaze you with his knowledge of wildlife and his ability to spot it for you. Spend a final night at Sanctuary Kusini Camp.

Day 9: Today you will fly to southern Tanzania to Selous Game Reserve. Less crowded and more spread out than the northern part of Tanzania the Selous allows you a different sort of wildlife experience. Here you will stay for the next several nights at Selous Impala Camp. With only eight luxury tents set on high wooden decking with magnificent views of the river and of the forest beyond, your room has been designed to melt into the background
becoming part of their surroundings. Each tent has a spacious veranda with chairs and table. The tents look out either over the Rufiji River, or over a lagoon. Here hippos and birds have their habitats. The tents are spread over a large area, ensuring maximum privacy. And because you are so close to the animal’s habitats, you may get visitors!

Day 10: Spend a second day in Selous and at Selous Impala Camp (FB). With a lot less visitors then Northern Tanzania you can experience hours travelling without seeing anyone else. Also off-road driving is allowed within certain guidelines giving you additional wildlife viewing opportunities. You will have a variety of activities available to you including boat safaris, walking safaris, fishing (at an additional expense) and bird watching safaris. And if you want a true bush experience we can arrange a night of bush camping for you. Surrounded by animals and their voices you will stay out in the bush guided only by by firelight and candles while your staff takes care of every detail for you.

Day 11: Spend a final night in Selous at Selous Impala Camp (FB). Today you can do those activities that you did not do yesterday. Tonight enjoy a sundowner as you savor and reflect all that you have seen and done in Africa.

Day 12: Today you will board a flight flight from the Selous to Dar Es Salaam for your international flight home.
