Another Generation To Pay It Forward test

In 2005 I met a young Maasai Moran (warrior) who had a dream of finishing high school and going to college. He so impressed me that I told him if he wanted to go to college I would help him do it. I had the honor of attending his graduation several years later. That man was Patrick Papatiti. Patrick’s life was changed and he now runs an anti-poaching unit in the Amboseli area of Kenya. We have been close ever since and I consider Patrick my “son.”

Shortly after I met Patrick I was visiting him and took a photo with some of his kids. The young girl next to me is Sein, Patrick’s oldest daughter. Sein is now a lovely young woman who just started University to study animal science. Here she is reporting to University. Infinite Safari and our foundation are supporting her through her University studies as well.

Patrick, who has a brilliant way with words, said it best. “This is amazing Rafiki (friend). This is a great story for you and your company. You sponsored a young Maasai Moran and this is the result, now you have a granddaughter in University.” I am touched and honored.

Here is one with me at Patrick’s graduation.

When people go on safari with Infinite they always ask what shots are required or needed and what other medicine should they be bringing or taking. I tell them that while nothing is “required” they should consult with a doctor to discuss what they need based on their personal medical history. And we talk about getting Malarone or Doxycycline as a malaria prophylactic. While this advice has worked well, here at Infinite Safari Adventures we are always striving for a…

  • Finishing Up In Zanzibar

After a wonderful time in Tanzania, seeing some amazing places, visiting with old friends and always making new ones it was time to move on to Zanzibar. No, I did not run into Bob Hope, Bing Crosby or Dorothy Lamour (my goodness I am dating myself if you do not get that reference!) but did run into some beautiful beaches, delicious Zanzibarian cuisine and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. There is nothing like rolling out of bed in…

  • Rosalie’s House

At Infinite Safari Adventures giving back is not optional. It is part of our responsibility. It is who we are. One of things that means is supporting the people who live alongside wildlife. And to better do that we started The Infinite Safari Foundation. We donate a portion of every safari booked to the foundation in our clients’ name. One of the initiatives we support is the Amani Foundation. It was created to keep families together, with a focus on…

  • Cuter than your kids or grandkids?

While not cuter than my granddaughter Rosie, I have to admit, “Bumpy” is a very close second! On May 2 Kenya Wildlife Service Vet and Capture team received reports of an infant orphaned hippo in Naivasha. They arrived to find a pint-sized calf nestled beside his mother’s lifeless body. He was found calling out to his mother and nudging her with his blunt little nose, desperately hoping for a response. The vets believe that she died of natural causes, likely…

  • Guess what I did last night?

After arriving at Solio Ranch and spending the afternoon looking a wildlife and visiting the orphanage, Kevin asked me if I wanted to go with him as at about 7:30 pm 2 male and 1 female ostrich were arriving by truck to be added to the wonderful wildlife here. Of course I said yes. The plan was to meet the truck carrying the ostriches at the orphanage, release them and then head back for dinner. It had been raining here…
