Back Among Friends & Family In Kenya

After an amazing time in Uganda and Rwanda it was time to head back to Kenya. Upon arrival in Nairobi we headed down to the Amboseli Area where Patrick lives and where the Infinite Safari Foundation does a lot of work including maintaining the water well we built 10 years ago. Amboseli has one of the best views of Kili you can imagine!

Our next steps, when we raise sufficient funds (and yes that is a shameless request to donate to the Infinite Safari Foundation) is to convert the well to a solar pump and decide what to do with the 5 acres we now own that the well sits on (many ideas are being discussed, but it will eventually be up to the women of the community to decide.)

It was great seeing everyone, including people I have not seen for a while. I got to visit my goats (now 28 in number including several babies). And I even got my Babu (grandfather) fix with Patrick’s littlest!

Next a return to Tanzania!

  • Introducing Another Very Special Diane

Today’s post source comes from my wife Diane Haithman. Diane is the reason this whole safari business started because in 2000 when I told her I had 400,000 frequent flyer miles and we could go anywhere in the world it was Diane who said, “I have always wanted to go on a safari in Africa.”  Little did she know what that fateful decision would bring. In 2025 Diane and I knew we would become grandparents to 15 month old Rosalie (who…

  • “TENT” is Not a Four-letter Word in Africa

When new safari travelers ask me where they will be staying and I reply: “tented camps!” you can see their faces fall. You can tell they see themselves sitting on a bedroll on the hard ground, eating s’mores in the dark with the monkeys and mosquitoes. I quickly explain that in Africa, “tent” is not a 4-letter word. On our safaris, tents have comfy beds, hot showers, toilets that flush and wonderful camp staffers who come running with coffee or hot…

  • Love in the Wild: A Proposal Blessed by a Silverback

As we say at Infinite Safari Adventures, if it can be done, we will make it happen. Our clients have enjoyed renewing wedding vows, taking cooking lessons, and celebrating bar mitzvahs in Africa. But sometimes our clients surprise even us. A few weeks ago, our lovely clients Laurie and Thom were in Rwanda to see the gorillas. Laurie had traveled with us several years ago with her daughter, who coined the term “the Elfie” (see below). Well, Thom surprised Laurie,…

  • Finishing Up In Zanzibar

After a wonderful time in Tanzania, seeing some amazing places, visiting with old friends and always making new ones it was time to move on to Zanzibar. No, I did not run into Bob Hope, Bing Crosby or Dorothy Lamour (my goodness I am dating myself if you do not get that reference!) but did run into some beautiful beaches, delicious Zanzibarian cuisine and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. There is nothing like rolling out of bed in…

  • Wi-Fi in Africa: What You Need to Know

The internet is an essential part of daily life for just about everyone these days. Staying connected to friends, family, work and play is simple in our hometowns or cities..but what about during a safari in Africa? One of the most common questions my guests ask me is – what about Wi-Fi in Africa? Will I have Wi-Fi? How does it work? Does it cost extra? Will I be able to send texts, check Facebook, or contact my family? So…
