Finishing Up In Zanzibar

After a wonderful time in Tanzania, seeing some amazing places, visiting with old friends and always making new ones it was time to move on to Zanzibar. No, I did not run into Bob Hope, Bing Crosby or Dorothy Lamour (my goodness I am dating myself if you do not get that reference!) but did run into some beautiful beaches, delicious Zanzibarian cuisine and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. There is nothing like rolling out of bed in the morning walking ten steps to ocean and diving into warm refreshing waters to start the day. There are many new accommodations springing up in Zanzibar and a few meet our standards that I am very excited about.

When working with clients in planning their East African Safaris I always recommend a few days in Zanzibar at the end of their safari to rest relax and get ready to return home. I just did the same thing. It is the perfect way to end your safari.

While I look forward to returning home to my beautiful wife, wonderful family and my executive assistant Gigi (who I am told misses me terribly) I always leave a bit of my heart here. For all of you who say “someday I want to go to Africa” that Someday Is Now!

As we say at Infinite Safari Adventures, if it can be done, we will make it happen. Our clients have enjoyed renewing wedding vows, taking cooking lessons, and celebrating bar mitzvahs in Africa. But sometimes our clients surprise even us. A few weeks ago, our lovely clients Laurie and Thom were in Rwanda to see the gorillas. Laurie had traveled with us several years ago with her daughter, who coined the term “the Elfie” (see below). Well, Thom surprised Laurie,…

  • Meet Some Of The Kenyan Team

Some of you who have traveled with Infinite Safari in Kenya may recognize the two happy smiling faces in the photo. They are Starphor (on the left) a driver for my ground partner and Dennis (on the right) a guide. Why are they smiling? They are smiling because they love what they do, take pride in doing it and are happy when our clients are happy. I am always grateful as they take such great care of my clients and…

  • The Third Edition of The Best African Safari Is Here

When I first traveled to Africa in 2000, I had no idea that one safari would change the direction of my life. The giraffes had me at “Jambo,” and I have been returning ever since. Over the years, I have answered thousands of questions from travelers planning their first safari: Where should I go? When is the best time to travel? Is it safe? What should I pack? What are the camps really like? And, of course, what happens when…

  • Introducing Another Very Special Diane

Today’s post source comes from my wife Diane Haithman. Diane is the reason this whole safari business started because in 2000 when I told her I had 400,000 frequent flyer miles and we could go anywhere in the world it was Diane who said, “I have always wanted to go on a safari in Africa.”  Little did she know what that fateful decision would bring. In 2025 Diane and I knew we would become grandparents to 15 month old Rosalie (who…

  • Greetings From East Africa!

As I do every year, I am in Africa looking at properties, searching for new experiences, and seeing old friends. This year I am in East Africa visiting Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar. Bella and I strive every day to make sure your safaris are perfect, and this is part of the process. My first stop is Uganda where it has been a few years since I have visited. In the few days I am here I have visited…
