Solio Ranch – A Magical Place

After a couple of wonderful days in Nairobi it was time to head up to a very special, magical place. Solio Conservation Area which spans over 30,000 acres. I am spending two wonderful, inspiring days here. The wildlife is amazing with huge herds of black and white rhino, buffalo, giraffe, eland, oryx, impala, hartebeest, jackals, ostrich and that was all this morning!

The person who runs this place Kevin Carr-Harley is the most passionate conservationist I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Including the tireless work he does managing this place he has also started a rhino orphanage with a medical lab and clinic that I am proud to have our foundation support.

Yesterday I got to see the finished project which was in early construction stage when I was here in February.  I was so touched to see our logo. We have come a long way since our first kayak safari 15 years ago!

This is definitely a place you must visit.  And yes, we can arrange that for you.

As we say at Infinite Safari Adventures, if it can be done, we will make it happen. Our clients have enjoyed renewing wedding vows, taking cooking lessons, and celebrating bar mitzvahs in Africa. But sometimes our clients surprise even us. A few weeks ago, our lovely clients Laurie and Thom were in Rwanda to see the gorillas. Laurie had traveled with us several years ago with her daughter, who coined the term “the Elfie” (see below). Well, Thom surprised Laurie,…

As you know the Infinite Safari Foundation supports conservation, humanitarian and educational initiatives throughout Eastern and Southern Africa. We are proud to support the Women in Tourism Program in Zambia, created by the African Bush Camps Foundation. The foundation is affiliated with African Bush Camps, which frequently hosts Infinite Safari Adventures guests. In many communities, young women remain largely shut out of tourism opportunities due to limited access to further education, financial barriers, geographic isolation, and social norms. Many lack the training, networks,…

  • Honored to Join the Club

As my movie hero Groucho Marx once said: “I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member”. However sometimes a membership invitation comes along where you just can’t say no. One that is steeped in history and legend. And even though I might not feel I belong, I am truly honored to be  included. Just recently I was selected as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. The Geographical Society of London was founded in 1830 as…

  • 20 Years Ago Today

While it may have been 20 years ago today that Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play, another wonderful thing also happened 20 years ago today. On August 27th just before my 50th birthday I summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain on the continent of Africa. It was a moving, spiritual experience to stand on the roof of Africa. The entire journey was amazing, from my incredible guide Geoffrey Moshi pushing me and motivating me to the summit, to the sunrise over…
