Track A Rhino & Support Saving The Survivors!

Several months ago, I was in the gym watching tv (and yes working out) and saw a story about a company called Fahlo. They were selling beaded bracelets with an image of endangered animals that also allowed people who bought the bracelet to track one of the endangered species. More importantly they donate a portion of their profits to the various wildlife conservation organizations they partner with. You can learn more about them by clicking here – Fahlo.

Well, the minute I got home I contacted them about cheetahs and rhinos which they did not yet have. They were already working on cheetahs with the Cheetah Conservation Fund but they were looking for a partner to support rhinos. I told them about Saving The Survivors, which I am also involved in, and they said Yeah!

Get yours here.

With STS, FAHLO has launched The Charge Bracelet, a new rhino-tracking bracelet that directly supports Saving The Survivors’ work protecting one of Africa’s most threatened species. With every bracelet purchased, supporters can follow the journey of a black or white rhino living in South Africa while contributing to vital on-the-ground conservation. The Charge Bracelet transforms conservation into a personal experience. Each bracelet reveals a unique rhino to track, helping supporters understand the daily movements, challenges, and protection efforts involved in keeping these incredible animals safe. Available in several colors, including Africa-inspired designs— each bracelet makes a statement for wildlife conservation.

  • Cuter than your kids or grandkids?

While not cuter than my granddaughter Rosie, I have to admit, “Bumpy” is a very close second! On May 2 Kenya Wildlife Service Vet and Capture team received reports of an infant orphaned hippo in Naivasha. They arrived to find a pint-sized calf nestled beside his mother’s lifeless body. He was found calling out to his mother and nudging her with his blunt little nose, desperately hoping for a response. The vets believe that she died of natural causes, likely…

Staying connected to friends, family, work and play is simple in our hometowns or cities..but what about during a safari in Africa? One of the most common questions my guests ask me is – what about Wi-Fi in Africa? Will I have Wi-Fi? How does it work? Does it cost extra? Will I be able to send texts, check Facebook, or contact my family? So…

As my movie hero Groucho Marx once said: “I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member”. However sometimes a membership invitation comes along where you just can’t say no. One that is steeped in history and legend. And even though I might not feel I belong, I am truly honored to be  included. Just recently I was selected as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. The Geographical Society of London was founded in 1830 as…

  • Finishing Up In Zanzibar

After a wonderful time in Tanzania, seeing some amazing places, visiting with old friends and always making new ones it was time to move on to Zanzibar. No, I did not run into Bob Hope, Bing Crosby or Dorothy Lamour (my goodness I am dating myself if you do not get that reference!) but did run into some beautiful beaches, delicious Zanzibarian cuisine and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. There is nothing like rolling out of bed in…
